Thailand! Part I

This is the first day, in reverse order because that's how I uploaded the photos. This first photo is in the taxi in Bangkok that took me from the airport to the hostel. My camera doesn't work so well at night, but I like the way this turned out. I arrived completely tired and so the picture isn't so far removed from how the city appeared to me.
That first night I went out in search of dinner with some of the volunteers from our group (Baan Dada) and the other group (Baan Unrak). We went on some Tuk Tuks (those little motorized bike cart things), but they took us to the wrong restaurant, so we walked instead. While we were eating, an elephant came to the door.
The next morning we took a very nice van up into the mountains to the orphanage, about a 5-6 hour drive. On the way we stopped at a Tesco (a British supermarket?) where there was odd-looking pizza and I had a Dairy Queen blizzard. Odd, but very tasty. We also stopped for lunch at a beautiful buffet that was definitely oriented towards tourists with its rustic wooden furniture and tropical plant life. Not surprisingly, a huge bus full of large, sunburned, partially dressed tourists came in just as we were leaving.
So, that was the first leg of the trip. I'll be putting photos up from Baan Dada soon.
